Piano Wellbeing in Notting Hill!

As part of my teaching practice, I discuss from time to time the idea of 'piano wellbeing', which includes different methods of maintaining healthy posture and arm movement whilst playing the piano. Various people have come to my attention when researching the subject online, so I'm sharing these on this page.

This is already up on my practising the piano page. However no collection of wellbeing videos should be without this handy warm-up routine.

Here's a complementary routine from Muse Moves

Weekly Piano is a great blog that I send most of my jazz students to at one time or another. Here Greg talks about the more 'holistic health' aspects of piano playing. Someone should maybe tell him it's 'tendonitis' though 😉

Part 1 of Graham Fitch's excellent tutorial on wrist movement.

...and part 2...

Here's some very interesting insight into arm and hand movement from Eileen Troberman.

If you'd like to study some more in depth, you might find this video helpful. Please feel free to fast forward if it's getting a bit dry LOL!

That's all for now, but I'll keep adding to these as I find new ones. Watch this space... 😉
